Design vs. Art

Some of the most amazing designs from architecture, to engineering, to biology come from the creative way the imposed constraints are satisfied. Take the beautiful house "Falling Water" by Frank Lloyd Wright. The true genius was Wright's ability to weave the structure through the restrictions of the surrounding environment. Were it to have been built in defiance of these restrictions, one could imagine a bloated, uninspired and wasteful mess of architect's own introspection.

There is a place where we defy all constraints. Art is where we unshackle the realities of the real world and imagine worlds unseen. No constraints to be found beyond our own comprehension. But this is where I will stand steadfast — the parsimonious use of resources is true beauty.
